Karl Lagerfeld is making headlines once again as he celebrates the upcoming launch of his book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited, a project he co-authored with Carine Roitfeld. Over a hundred cultural figures from fashion, film and music, were tapped for the project, where they were shot by Lagerfeld wearing the label’s iconic cropped tweed jacket.
With such diversity among the pool of personalities involved in the project, each photograph beamed with a distinction closely hinged on whoever is wearing the 1954-released jacket. With the styling help of Roitfeld, the photographs offer a menagerie of personal style that brought to life the iconic jacket’s inimitable versatility. The jacket knew no gender as it appeared on famed designer Olivier Theyskens to young fashion muse Elle Fanning.
In celebration of the book’s launch, Chanel will also hold an exhibit featuring the photographs from June 8 to 15 in New York. For a preview of what the book has to offer, click through the slideshow.
