A studded shoe affair at McQ Alexander McQueen

Color is the name of the fashion game this spring and clearly, there is no shortage of such shoes this season. From Brian Atwood’s trendsetting Alima neon pumps to Dolce & Gabbana’s richly luxurious sequined platforms, women are left with nothing but the mind-boggling responsibility of poring through hundreds of designer shoes. Although shoe masters have successfully done their role in delivering highly covetable footwear options this season, a select few truly stood out.

For the Fashion Glamour team, the McQ Alexander McQueen label is one of them. We have taken a particular liking in two electrifying designs from the late designer’s younger McQ label which stayed loyal to the high-octane neons of the spring season. Besides the striking punch of color, what sold the pairs to us were the rows of studs on the heel caps. A showcase of the label’s young and rebellious stroke, the studs could have easily become a distraction but the smart placement afforded the right dose of rock n’ roll edge to counter the all-too-shocking color. With the embellishment-free body and toe box, the shoes unobtrusively stood out.

Although the pumps and flats would have been just as amazing sans the studs, throwing those into the design show the label’s unmatched finesse and restraint in design. A perfect collision of elegance and boldness, these pairs will be tough to beat in a roaring battle of spring shoes.
