It has been a week since Raf Simons unveiled his divinely beautiful couture collection for Christian Dior and we at Fashion Glamour have already agreed with the rest of the fashion world in saying that he did a truly stellar job. While we’ve heard everyone gush about Simons’ debut collection for Dior, which merged the label’s storied past and the designer’s fashion-forward outlook, do you wonder what the perennial fashion editor of the world has to say?
CNN’s Alina Cho had the privilege of speaking with Vogue‘s Anna Wintour during the Paris show and quite unsurprisingly shared nothing but love for the designer and his couture collection. “He’s a rock star in his own right … He brought a lightness and simplicity to it that I thought was incredibly refreshing. Nice clothes are fine, but you can find nice clothes everywhere. What Raf brings is a point of view … From what we saw I think [appointing Simons as creative director at Dior] was a brilliant choice,” said Wintour.
A small chunk of the fashion industry may think that Simons failed to shake things up at Dior, but if Wintour thinks Simons is already a rock star—only he’s clutching onto a sketchbook rather than a guitar—then let that compliment shush all the doubters. Besides, Simons has a long career at Dior ahead of him, thus judging his ability to lead the label is too early to be relevant.
