Beauty Roundup: Fall Looks Made For Summer
Posted by on June 19, 2012 | 3:58 pm EST

Glorious summer days are upon us, which could only mean it’s time once more to change it up and don a more adventurous spirit. The past spring season may have brought us to neon territories and architectural highs and lows, but the looming season isn’t too different.

While many may have already stocked up on precious wardrobe essentials for the warm weather coming our way or have chosen to trust on their already-packed spring closet, Fashion Glamour shifted its attention to the beauty department. An easy way to give yourself a fresh look for the new season, we’ve rounded up the best beauty looks to try this summer.

Although the spring/summer runways remain a formidable source of beauty trends, we’re looking further down the season and plucking out our favorite hair and makeup trends from the Fall 2012 runways that were seemingly made for the summer season. From low-maintenance hairstyles to easy makeup tricks, here are our picks:

Sleek and Shiny. Summer is all about letting loose and running wild, while still looking effortlessly beautiful. At Yigal Azrouël’s fall runway, the hair was all about easy casualness. For the season, wear your hair—short or long—down for a breezy  look beaming with confidence.

Bright Lips. While bold red or cool coral lips are still perfectly on trend, we’re shifting the summer spotlight on the ultra-feminine appeal of pink lips. Women with a penchant for bright lips will find the dialed down boldness of the color ideal for summer. It’s not too severe, but vivid enough for high beauty pay-off. Go for pinks with hints of berry tones such as the looks from Bill Blass’ runway show.

Luscious Waves. From the ocean to your hair, big and sexy waves are summer’s most trusted hairstyle. Although loose and messy waves are often the go-to look of women during the season, this sophisticated update lends a more feminine and put-together finish. Perfect for chic nighttime soirees; get your locks at its dreamiest summer form with a big-barreled curling iron.

High Ponytail. Move away from the scruffy and messy topknots and ponytails of spring, and look fabulous in a sleek high ponytail. With the hot and humid summer weather winding upon us, it’s time for a hairstyle that shows off sun-kissed cheeks—while keeping the icky hair away.

Colored Lids. Dare to wear eye makeup in a punchy hue such as the light purple shade Lindsey Wixson is wearing at Jill Stuart. Although neon was a big trend last spring, opt for a more subtle pop of color that radiates with softness and femininity. Do keep the rest of your makeup at the minimum for an eye-popping look.

Less is More. The fresh-faced, no-makeup look at Preen is perhaps at the top of Fashion Glamour’s fall beauty favorites. Step away from your heavy-duty beauty arsenal and trust on a set of groomed eyebrows, a stroke or two of blush and a lightly stained lips to let your natural beauty shine. Make sure you get good skin for summer as well by booking a trip to your dermatologist pronto.

Feeling Peachy. Bronzed-out beauties will love the variation of that trend with the peach look splashed across the Suno runway. While we’re not counting out bronze as the color of summer, the warmth of this all-peach look—eyes, cheeks and lips—is too irresistible to frown upon.
