Beauty Watch: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

Like other award shows, the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards held at The Shrine Auditorium last January 17, was filled with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Aside from the spectacular gowns on parade, the stars’ beauty looks capped their triumphant sartorial show. Take a look at the beautiful actresses who swept us away with their outstanding looks.

First was Amanda Seyfried, who stole our hearts in a midnight-blue Zac Posen strapless gown. It looked especially like a dream because of its heavenly ruffle detailing on the hem. Though we weren’t expecting anything too adventurous from her, we did foresee that she would go for side-wept waves. Besides her gorgeously styled hair, we couldn’t take our eyes off of her lined eyes and soft pink lips. It really was a look as sweet as her acting talent.

Les Misérables beauty Anne Hathaway, who turned up in a simple yet elegant Giambattista Valli frock, proved that short hair can still look amazing on the red carpet. We love how her hair was deeply parted to one side and then gently brushed up, for it really allowed her porcelain skin and matte red lipstick to become the star of her beauty show.

One of the most fashionable stars that turned heads at the event was January Jones, who looked fantastic in an edgy Prabal Gurung gown. The actress committed to her frock’s non-conforming design and chose to sport pompadour hair that evening. Although it looked anti-red carpet, we love its glam-rock appeal. She didn’t go overtly edgy though, for she stuck to coral lips.

Jessica Chastain looked exceptional in Alexander McQueen, so it was only fitting that she nail her hair and makeup as well — and she did. Beautifully understated, Chastain went for a radiant no-makeup look with a soft pop of pink on the lips.

One of the most stylish ladies of the night, Marion Cotillard, stayed away from the usual buns and waves. Instead, she got edgy with a sharp and straight asymmetrical bob. Seeing this risky yet sophisticated hair on the red carpet was such a welcome sight. Her makeup worked with her hair as well. Dark teal eyeshadow and light pink lips did not call attention away from her biggest beauty statement — her hair.

Tina Fey went for a foolproof classic — the retro waves. Although she stunned us in her Oscar de la Renta gown, it was her amazing hair and makeup that tied her look together. She has been on a winning red carpet streak lately, prompting us to include her in our list of stars to watch at the Academy Awards.
