Botkier may not command the same attention as Chanel or Balenciaga, but they are just as formidable a force in the luxury bag industry. This spring, the brand is keeping pace with the punchy colors of the season, albeit carving a slightly different path.
While the season saw an influx of either soft pastels or loud neons, bag designer Monica Botkier opted to sit in the middle of the two trends—creating a selection of easy-on-the-eyes satchels and hobo bags.
Arriving in hues of persimmon, black, tobacco and garden, Botkier’s Leon small satchels offer the best of structure and femininity. Although the bags’ sturdiness is similar to the classic attaché case, the subdued colors countered its masculine aesthetic, and captured a dash of ladylike sensibilities.
Color blocking also made a minute role in the design. The front lock comes in a contrasting color to break the bags’ otherwise monotonous shade.
Botkier also released a line of hobo bags in the same shades, but offers more space for stowing away women’s everyday essentials. The designer also retained the structured handle for greater portability and versatility.
These Leon bags may not lure you in with their jaw-dropping visual appeal, but their sleek and simple aesthetics guarantee these will be the bags that can ride the season’s tides—and beyond.
