Style.com and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) are giving the world an exclusive front row seat to watch the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards. Don’t get your hopes too high however, for the show will air exclusively on Style.com on June 5 at noon EDT, a day after the actual awards ceremony on June 4. The broadcast will show the red carpet arrivals, Tim Blanks’ interview with the arriving guests, and the acceptance speeches.
In a Women’s Wear Daily article, CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb said that the online broadcast will widen the awards’ and organizations’ audience beyond industry folk. Despite the delay in broadcast, this remains a milestone for the awards show, which has been staging the ceremony devoid of full video coverage.
In preparation for one of fashion’s biggest events, Style.com has actually put up a special CFDA page on its website. Style.com unearthed its archives of CFDA Fashion Awards photos and remembered the exciting 30-year history of the ceremony with a compelling slideshow that highlighted the award ceremony’s most notable moments. Interviews with honorees are also featured, where talks with Scott Schumann and Garance Dore, and Andrew Rosen are currently on display.
Hosted by Seth Meyers, the CFDA Fashion Awards will be held at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on June 4.
