It’s hard to imagine that queen of cool Chloe Sevigny still has something to rant about given she’s one of the most enduring trendsetters of the past and current decade. Then again, didn’t she just say she hated going to fashion shows? As such, maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that the androgynous beauty is back with a bunch of fiery snaps.
This time around, Sevigny turned her attention to the fact that though she’s branded as an eternal indie-slash-fashion It girl, she still can’t have any designer dress she fancies. Sevigny denied all preconceived notions we have about her in an interview by Out magazine. The article states that though she’s been holding the trendsetter torch for years, she is aware of “her place in the fashion food chain,” narrating that some labels won’t lend her dresses for certain events.
She animatedly narrated a recent snafu where she requested about 20 designer dresses to wear for the British premiere of Hit & Miss, only to get two labels heed her call. “Aren’t I one of the top searches on Style.com, for crying out loud? How hard is it to get a fucking dress from Valentino?” said Sevigny. While it’s easy to take this bit out of context, we’re pretty sure she meant it in a darkly sarcastic way. Max Berlinger, who wrote the article, did describe that she uttered this with “mock disgust.”
Although Sevigny is not known to edit her opinion during off-the-cuff interviews, we’re hoping her Valentino namedrop had nothing to do with a man accidentally ripping her Valentino dress two years ago. As we remember that moment, we wonder if Valentino won’t loan her a dress because they’re worried she’ll rip another couture piece.
