While every woman in the planet is dying to get into the elite circle of front-row-seat regulars, there is one other woman in the world who shockingly reveals—once more—that she’s not exactly happy to be rubbing shoulders with the industry’s high-profile personalities.
Chloë Sevigny, who has the titles fashion designer, model and actress under her name, was recently quoted in a BBC Radio4 interview saying, “I don’t enjoy going to fashion shows. It’s very high school, it’s very ‘the most popular kids in the front row,’ and everybody’s checking everybody else out, and you have to do all this press and get your picture taken … It’s not fun for me — it’s work…I go occasionally to friends’ shows to support them. Or if I’m getting paid, if I’m going to be honest.”
This brutal display of honesty reiterates her conversation with The New York Times last year, where she expressed her hatred towards fashion. “I hate going to fashion shows. I find them boring,” Sevigny said. Even though she’s still every bit the It girl at 37 years old, we reckon she still doesn’t appreciate to be complimented for her eclectic style, after once disclosing in an interview that the term “irks” her.
Apparently, Sevigny is still in an embattled love-hate relationship with fashion despite her being counted as a style icon by many women. Amid her scathing opinions on attending fashion shows, she is still every bit the fashion lover. Speaking with Jenni Murray of BBC Radio4, Sevigny did say that she still adores fashion, citing Christopher Kane and Nicolas Ghesquiere as some of her favorite designers.
Fashion Glamour loves a bit of honesty now and then, but truthfully, we’re a wee bit on the fence by her scathing remarks especially since she counts on this industry as one of her most “lucrative” endeavors. We figure she’ll still get front row seats at next season’s fashion shows, though she might as well expect fewer invites in the mail.
