After stirring up controversy with their previous campaign star Hailee Steinfeld, Miu Miu traced its roots back by hiring Chloe Sevigny again as the face of their Fall advertising campaign. Although Miu Miu is a brand associated with the young and wild, we’re not surprised to see Sevigny working with Miu Miu a decade and a half since they first collaborated. Sevigny, who was 21 when she graced the brand’s Spring 1996 campaign, is still one of fashion’s most formidable It girls even if she’s three years shy of turning 40.
For the Italian brand’s Fall campaign, they enlisted Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot to shoot the bold and colorful ads. Similar to previous Miu Miu ads, Sevigny is photographed sprawled on a wooden chair while she models a barrage of print-on-print ensembles that’s as blinding as her ginger hair and crayon-painted eyes. In one image, Sevigny is photographed holding a dainty tea cup, while other stills feature a close-up shot of her wearing the brand’s quirky sunglasses. The creative harkens back to the 1970’s, with the array of hallucinogenic collisions of colors and patterns. It’s a concept that’s right up the alley of Sevigny’s personal style.
With a stare as piercing as an arrow and a cool-girl vibe as unrelenting as Kate Moss’ supermodel status, Sevigny proves that some things do get better with age. Click through the slideshow to see more images from Miu Miu’s Fall campaign.
