Currently Coveting: Decorated Collars

Clearly, the decorated collar is still as important as the peplum. After seeing Sami Gayle’s cute Miu Miu look at the Total Recall premiere, we at Fashion Glamour couldn’t resist the urge to pore through online retail stores in the hope of finding an equally enviable pair of collared top. To rival the 16-year-old appeal of Gayle is a useless effort; hence, we simply put our envy to good use, curating our most coveted designer tops that carry the persistent trend.

Even designers realized the enduring quality of a decorated or contrasting collar, appearing on a number of catwalks during the past fall fashion week. This time however, the collars got fancier. Although a simple color-contrasting color is still on trend, labels have decided to embrace more ostentatious trimmings and embellishments. Thanks to intricate lace work, and dazzling sequins and beads, classic tops have become a punchier, fashion-forward closet staple.

Sitting on top of our must-haves for summer and the incoming season as well, is Preen’s crepe de chine blouse which arrives in a glorious ivory shade. The printed cuffs and collar were highlighted further by sharp orange lining, yielding a visually seductive contrast. Jason Wu also hopped on board the bandwagon, but got a bit edgier with only the tips of its collar embellished with sequins and beads.

Although most of these pieces hail from the fall/winter season, these separates are still deserving of a space in women’s summer wardrobes. For all the effortless and transeasonal trendiness you can have this season and beyond, click through the slideshow above.
