The great run of cotton candy colors has finally concluded. A few days ago, Pantone – the company that mixes and matches colors that’ll look wonderful in fashion, home, and beauty – has released its much-anticipated Color of the Year for 2013. As usual, it didn’t fail to excite us as it announced that emerald green is indeed, the shade that should be watched out for in 2013.
Emerald green’s vividness is on the same level as tangerine tango, which ruled last year. This bright, easy-on-the-eyes hue was prominent at a number of spring collections including Zac Posen, Armani Prive, and Jean Paul Gaultier. It was also palpable in the collections presented by Acne, Creatures of the Wind, Jonathan Saunders, Narciso Rodriguez, David Koma, Alice + Olivia, and Burberry. Of course, Japanese label Kenzo didn’t let its collection be left behind so it has also incorporated emerald green into its spring 2013 lineup.
From long gowns to short dresses, no one can deny that emerald green is indeed a strong shade that speaks of calmness and rejuvenation with numerous labels a step ahead of the color trend. Pantone defines it as a color of “elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”
With that in mind, now’s the perfect time to shop green clothes – jackets, skirts, shorts, and blouses – as well as accessories to stash in your closet for next year. Whether you like it or not, emerald green is the new color you have to embrace in your wardrobe if you want to stay in style.
