The 1960s was that period in time where women carried such spell-binding refinement and glamour. It was the acme of femininity, with bold lips, perfectly groomed eyebrows and lined eyes being the defining look of the decade. Today, no show better captures that kind of retrospective allure than the award-winning AMC show Mad Men.
The show’s success has sparked an interest in the fashion and culture of the said decade, more so in the beauty department with January Jones and Christina Hendricks personifying the sultry beauties of the 1960s. With that, it is almost expected that a beauty line inspired by the 1960s will soon materialize.
Enter cosmetics giant Estée Lauder, which has just announced a Mad Men-inspired range composed of a cream blush and lipstick. “We’ve always felt like there’s a connection between Mad Men and the Estée Lauder brand and Estée herself; the sixties were our heyday as well,” exclaimed global brand president Jane Hertzmark Hudis in a Style article.
The line features limited edition essentials that come in elegant cases and cartons inspired by the brand’s products in the 1960’s. The light and dewy Crème Rouge in Evening Rose comes in a dainty gold compact and vintage-inspired carton, while the rich Cherry Lipstick is in a glamorously gold tube.
Adding to the already-good news, it is reported that Estée Lauder will create another collection for the show’s sixth season. The collection will be available on Estée Lauder andBloomingdales websites this March 18.
