Olivia Wilde and Julianne Moore in monochromatic looks

Even more disastrous than seeing actresses stun the fashion world with a dress that has been seen on other celebrities before is to see them together on one fabulous red carpet. That was the case with Olivia Wilde and Julianne Moore, who both attended the 16th Annual ACE Awards in New York City on Monday night wearing identical dresses—almost, that is.

The two equally-accomplished actresses went for a look that was nearly indistinguishable from head to toe. It felt like one orchestrated red carpet appearance, as the two both turned up in white dresses classically cinched with a basic black belt. Both actresses also strode in the same beauty direction, going for sleek hair and understated makeup.  The shoe choices paraded the same alley as well, though Wilde went for demure pumps while Moore upped the sexiness with strappy sandals.

Moore and Wilde may have shared the same sartorial aspirations last night, but under that uniformity were two visual adventures. Moore, who wore a Calvin Klein creation, offered a more futuristic point of view thanks largely to the geometric cuts on the neckline. Although edginess was the prevailing aesthetic, there was also a kick of romance with the architectural off-the-shoulder detail.

On the other hand, Wilde was decidedly more feminine as her dress’ slight flared skirt afforded more movement in contrast to the strictness of Moore’s. The shiny white paneling on the bodice was a curious element, as it gave the dress a bit of roughness—it actually looked like a peplum overskirt—that countered the number’s starkness.

This fashion face-off is a draw for us because both actresses looked absolutely smashing in their individual knee-length frocks. Who do you think pulled off the monochromatic dressing to perfection?
