Blessed with a voice that resonates like thunder, and a beauty that appears to have emerged from another world, Florence Welch’s cover for the July issue of Harper’s Bazaar is an image that seemingly deserves a 10-feet wall all by itself in a renaissance art museum.
Photographed by Camilla Akrans and style by Sissy Vian, the ethereal Florence + The Machine songstress wore a back-baring sheer floral dress from Valentino’s spring 2012 collection on the cover. With her fiery red hair majestically illuminated from behind, the crown of flowers adorning her delicate curls reminded us of the romance of the summer season.
Amid a lush meadow setting, the fairytale-like persona of Welch reigned free as stood beside a white horse, threw her cape to the air, and ran around with the zephyr in her face. Dressed in a range of delicate gowns that danced to the tunes of the wind, Welch proves that of designers many adopted musical daughters, she is the most stunning of them all.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted on the Harper’s Bazaar website, the soft-spoken Welch talked about her fascination for Florence Welch and Ophelia. She also shared her curiosity on what the Queen of England’s garden looks like beyond its imposing gates and walls.
The July issue of Harper’s Bazaar will descend in newsstands on June 4. In the meantime, sneak a peek into what happened during the photo shoot with the video below.
