For the sixth year running, Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bundchen has once again out-earned every able-bodied model in the industry. In a report tallied from May 2011 to 2012 by Forbes, the leggy model has raked in a massive $45 million—a total stemming from her deals with Esprit, Versace and Pantene, as well as her own line of Ipanema sandals. While models are usually hired to look stunning on camera and show off designer clothes, Bundchen’s business-savvy self has opened herself to a number of money-making channels, attaching her name to a sundry of products besides being a designer mannequin.
Bundchen is far from being dethroned since the model trailing behind her is supermodel Kate Moss, who raked in 9.2 million. Although Moss is teetering towards her 40s, this feat is especially notable since she still managed out-earned some of today’s most in demand models. Bagging the third spot is another experienced model, Russian Natalia Vodianova who, though rarely walks on the runway these days, is still a force to be reckoned with in the business.
Majority of the models to complete the list are Victoria’s Secret Angels, including Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr. Lara Stone and Carolyn Murphy made the list, while 23-year-old Candice Swanepoel is the youngest model to make the cut. It’s also worth nothing that even the combined paychecks of Moss, Vodianova, Lima, Kroes and Ambrosio won’t amount to Bundchen’s earnings.
Below is the complete list of the top-earning models from May 2011 to 2012.
