Jason Wu, Mulberry and Proenza Schouler bag the spring cheer

A statement-making bag, no matter what finish or fabric it arrives in, is one of the most crucial pieces in a woman’s entire look. Next to a great pair of shoes and an assembly of impressive jewels, it’s that one bag that seemingly ties all these elements together. This season, we bid goodbye to the ubiquitous black handbag that women relied on throughout the winter chills, and thrust open our bag closet to curtsy in a spectrum of refreshing colors. With this season’s handbag collection requiring endless hours of scrutiny, Fashion Glamour managed to zero in on three labels that perfectly embodied the spring aesthetics without evoking utter tackiness or being benignly boring.

You’re great search for the clutch ends right here, right now. Jason Wu’s chic and texture four-piece Miss Wu wristlet clutch range easily outshines other designs. Wu chose the right colors from the get-go, dressing them up in shades of coral, yellow, violet and aqua—not too bright but still massively spring-appropriate.

Although clutches almost always come with a dose of maturity, we adore the freshness and youthfulness of these bags. Wu even throws in a minute touch of quirkiness with an owl icon elegantly embossed on the front metal closure. The extra convenience afforded by the wristlet also goes to show that Wu is aware of who will be seen carrying these Miss Wu pieces—the hip and savvy feminine youth.

Always fashionable and on trend, Proenza Schouler’s line of PS1 pouch leather bags have a season-defying quality to it that deserves to be applauded. Difficult as it may seem, we plucked out six pieces from the bunch. The iconic design, which has floored (and continues to) women of style, fits right into the spring season for its portability and timeless appeal.

The bags’ slouchy, fuss-free and nonchalant exterior nails the season’s free-spirited attitude. Although the design has been around for years—eons in the fashion world—they continue to tickle and tantalize as they roll out exciting new colors season after season.

The English brand Mulberry is home to one of the industry’s most loved bags—the Alexa. We however, have taken a particular liking towards their range of Lily bags, the label’s more practical spin on evening bags with its spacious compartment and double-duty leather-and-chain strap. Mulberry’s reincarnation of this design departs from the restraint and simplicity of the line, but we find the in-your-face beckon of these bags too difficult to resist.

The bags appeal to the younger set of style mavens, as they come bedazzled with Swarovski crystals, charms or patchwork gems. Especially bewitching is the Jewelled Lily bag and all of its excessive crystal glory—which were manually applied on the bag. If you’re looking for exclusivity, the Jewelled Lily bag is the one to nab since crystals are uniquely placed onto the bags. Another design to covet is the pink Peace & Love Lily bag, which is dotted with gold peace signs and hearts.
