Basil Soda, who first gained fashion ground in the couture market but transitioned to ready-to-wear, is looking at strengthening his brand presence in Europe. Although Soda has previously designed gowns for Hollywood heavyweights such as Marion Cottilard, his name has yet to leave a resounding familiarity among fashion audiences.
As such, the Lebanese designer tapped top model Jessica Stam to front his fall/winter campaign. Photographed by Daniel Sannwald, the preview image revealed on Women’s Wear Daily is one architectural eeriness that perfectly aligns with the label’s ruling aesthetics. The avant-garde styling features Stam dressed in a black satin dress complete with shiny latex gloves. Stam’s black bob and lipstick impeccably adhered to the theme as well. With her chin tilted up and her gaze piercing down, the model truly met the required mood, yielding a hypnotically spooky yet still-arresting campaign image.
In tapping Stam, undoubtedly one of the most bankable models today, this campaign holds a lot of promise in terms of getting his name out there and perhaps carving a deeper foundation for his brand. The print campaign will break in major fashion glossies in Europe, including French Vogue, Numéro and L’Officiel.
