There’s no arguing that Karl Lagerfeld is the man of the hour. After successfully assembling the book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited with Carine Roitfeld, Lagerfeld has turned his attention to beauty. Indeed, the Chanel designer’s creativity is as transcendent as his staple black wardrobe for he teamed up with Japanese beauty brand Shu Uemera to create a limited edition makeup collection.
The soon-to-be-unveiled collection revolves around his “iconic” and “ironic” sense of style, with 17 beauty products completing the line. The designer had control of everything from color selection to packaging. The print campaign was even shot by Lagerfeld himself, who has been involved in a slew of photography sessions for Chanel, among others.
Although Lagerfeld and his dark spectacles don’t necessary scream beauty, the designer is no novice in the area. Last holiday season, he famously designed a makeup collection for Sephora. This is also not the first time Lagerfeld entered the Shu Uemura world as he has in fact been a “fan” of the brand for over 20 years. The designer has been using the label’s products to color his sketches because they offered such “beautiful colors.”
In time for the holidays, the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura collection will be available at the brand’s 400 locations worldwide in November. By then, we think the multitasking Lagerfeld would have already dived onto another project.
