When models make their way to IMG Models, it’s often a sign that they’ve truly made it in the industry. Karlie Kloss, the all-American supermodel who captured the world with her mile-long ballet-trained legs has reportedly severed ties with Next as she becomes the new addition to IMG Models already-enviable roster of leggy beauties. Being home to some of the world’s biggest models, including Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr, Sasha Pivarova, Lara Stone, Freja Beha and Joan Smalls to name a few, Kloss will surely feel right at home in her new agency.
Although this is truly delightful news for IMG, Kloss’ mother agency Mother Model Management appears to have been deserted by the model as well. With a cover photo screaming with utmost pride and slight annoyance that read: “Mother is not defined by one model,” we can’t help but think Kloss departure wasn’t taken well.
Nevertheless, we can’t blame Kloss for wanting to expand her career. More than a fashion supermodel, we reckon that Kloss wants to be an all-around star. “I think there is a world of opportunity and this is the perfect place to help me continue to navigate through fashion and beyond in the next phase of my career. I feel grateful to those who have helped me reach this point in my life and career. Over the past four years I have grown, learned and experienced more than I could have ever imagined. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” said Kloss
IMG Models is very happy with their “prestigious” new recruit as well. In a statement released by IMG Models, SVP and managing director Ivan Bart said, “Karlie has an immense and loyal following, and we are thrilled with the opportunity to help expand her relationships through endorsements as well as our global network that reaches beyond fashion.” Senior manager Anne Nelson also gushed about Kloss’ appeal, saying that she is not only “an inspiration to the fashion world but to us as managers.”
