The industry’s original supermodels are headed to the runway. That is, however, still up to the accuracy of rumors swirling around that Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell were tapped to walk in a runway show for the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. According to reports, the two style icons will be walking side by side on August 12 with the industry’s younger supermodels such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to showcase the finest of British fashion.
Among the designer pieces that will reportedly be used for the fashion show will be from the houses of Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. An unknown source was quoted by The Mirror saying that “the models were all keen to take part because it will be such a memorable event.” Seeing as the Olympic Games is a worldwide event, any model would probably jump on the chance to walk down the runway with the whole world watching.
“British style is known around the world for innovation and creativity, so it’s right that it will be celebrated as part of the show—it will look amazing,” the source added. The runway show will be worked into the closing ceremony called A Symphony of British Music, which is being fashioned into a musical extravaganza that they hope will be remembered in the years to come.
