Let’s admit it, every single image that gets published in a fashion magazine goes through a magical portal called Photoshop. While it’s a widely-accepted truth and reality, we can’t fathom how Elle UK could miss a startling photo manipulation fail in their January 2013 issue, which stars Kylie Minogue.
Wearing a lilac Christopher Kane dress, no one can contest the fact that the pop star looked astonishing. However, a closer look at the front cover reveals that part of Minogue’s left leg is missing. Well, the singer’s left foot is technically gone.
It’s kind of obvious that the body part in question was really deleted, since there’s no shadow to suggest that somewhere behind the singer lies her left foot.
Undoubtedly, her white dress blended so well with the white background, but it’s nearly impossible for her to lose her left leg out of sight just like that.
There are only two things at fault here: the hyper hands of the art department or the editors responsible for final proofing.
Photoshop is an essential tool for publishers, especially when it comes to the fashion spreads, but it can also be a disadvantage. Case in point: digital fails like this one. What do you think about Kylie Minogue’s missing leg?
