After teasing her 28 million followers with Vogue-related Twitter updates, which we assume drove most of them to a nervous breakdown, the queen of controversy finally let the cat out of the bag. Earlier today, Lady Gaga calmed her eagerly waiting “little monsters” by tweeting that she finally got her hands on the magazine. “AHHH! The Vogue Express dropped off the SEPTEMBER ISSUE yesterday morning. IM A COVER GIRL, and ITS FAB! Can’t wait to show u tonight!” said her tweet.
The Born This Way singer took to LittleMonsters.com to unveil the cover, with a short note that read, “SHH DONT TELL TWITTER/ SEPT ISSUE OF VOGUE MAGAZINE/ Sorry Anna but the underground kids deserve it. bisous! 1ST.” Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, and styled by Grace Coddington, we were slightly surprised with how the cover turned out. It was such a refreshing departure from the tight beauty shots that have been dominating fashion glossies in the past. From zooming in on celebrity beauties, we think this is more fitting since it will better show off exquisite designer pieces.
This change for instance, allowed the glorious Marc Jacobs creation to be front and center, which we thought looked really majestic on Lady Gaga. Besides the impeccable mermaid gown, we couldn’t keep our eyes away from the singer’s voluminous hair that commanded just as much attention as the jewel-toned dress.
While the cover bannered a regal Lady Gaga, an inside image revealed that even though she is on Vogue, it can’t be a Lady Gaga feature without leaving our jaws dropped on the floor. The image, which sees the singer photographed in all her naked glory save for an enormous Stephen Jones for Marc Jacobs hat, is oozing with her trademark raunchiness and Vogue’s glamorous imagery.
Although this is currently the only inside image posted on the Vogue website, the beautiful cover was enough to convince us that the publication’s September issue is something to look forward to. As it is Vogue’s thickest issue yet with 916 pages, it was perhaps only fitting that they tapped an equally-impressive woman to grace their cover.
We at Fashion Glamour will surely be nabbing this issue. Will you?
