New York Fashion Week had a moment with pink on the runways, but more than 3,000 miles away, London-based designers were feeling the blues. Although it’s a color too often deemed as tacky and unflattering, Clements Ribeiro, Mary Katrantzou and Moschino Cheap and Chic shattered all those notions with their stunning beauty looks. Although the blue eyeshadow-look is often a hit-and-miss, these designers nailed it for us.
At Clements Ribeiro, the beauty look appears to have stemmed from oceanic inspirations. With lids heavily dusted with turquoise, the lips were kept nearly bare and the cheeks almost pale. The color exploded with freshness on the eyes, yet it wasn’t overwhelming or disgustingly unappealing. Dramatic and playful, it was one of our favorite blue-eyed looks on the London catwalks.
Another label to beautifully defy blue eyeshadow’s bad reputation was Moschino Cheap and Chic. They wasted no time in making a slightly messy but seriously electric statement, lining the under-eyes with a standout sky blue shade. It was Mary Katrantzou however, who sent out the most wearable blue-lined eyes at LFW. A shade that toed between violet and blue, it was a color that could easily swamp the streets of London as soon as spring 2013 rolls in. Will you be giving blue eyeshadow a try next spring?
