Although messy ponytails and playful top buns are still thundering on, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we see less of those and more of the slicked back hairstyles spotted on the London runways. However anti-spring it may seem with its polished perfection and scary severity, it’s actually a welcome return since spring and summer months have always been about showing off head-to-toe flawless skin.
Of the many catwalks shows that rolled out its inspiring new spring collections, Paul Smith, Nicole Farhi and Christopher Kane’s super sleek, smooth and shiny hairdos were the ones that got us thinking about leaving the messy look behind. At Paul Smith, the hair was pulled back—painfully executed, it appears—and rolled into a mid-high neat bun. Christopher Kane shared the same concept but oiled it up a bit, while opting for a low ponytail. Meanwhile, Nicole Farhi shook it up a bit and took out the monotony with a slightly bulbous half ponytail.
With nary a hair out of place, pulling off this hairstyle may look easy but we’re pretty sure it’ll take a lot of tugging, combing and hair products. A tight grip will also be important, we think. What do you think of this new trend? Is it a bit too strict for spring or just sleek and right?
