Marchesa, established by Georgina Chapman and Keren Kraig, has always been the go-to fashion house of many high-profile personalities for their glamorous and luxurious red carpet dresses. This is why it came as a welcome surprise for the Fashion Glamour team to hear that a lower-priced Marchesa line will emerge around pre-fall 2013.
WWD reports that the brand has already inked a licensing agreement with LF USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Li & Fung, which will steer the Marchesa brand toward the contemporary showground. The new line, which is planned to encompass day clothes and accessories, will carry “a slightly different feel,” said Chapman.
Far from the extravagant Marchesa evening gowns, the yet-to-be-named line will carry designs reportedly priced from $150 to $750. Despite the staggering price difference, the new line will still be under the Marchesa umbrella.
While we are already eager and excited for what the brand has to offer, Chapman is just as excited with this development telling WWD that they have always aimed for Marchesa to be a lifestyle brand. Although the contemporary line is still in its early stages of development, we can’t wait to see how they reimagine Marchesa’s detailed and intricate aesthetic into the more affordable line. Moreover, as Marchesa slowly expands into different categories—and price points—we can only foresee nothing but greater things ahead for the opulent fashion label.
