The sneaker revolution is dawning upon us and there’s nothing we can do but embrace this booming nod towards style and comfort. We’ve seen the likes of Marc Jacobs and Isabel Marant steer boldly towards this direction, which have yielded a bevy of sneakers that have either spurred a roaring applause or a dismal five minutes of silence. Amid the volatile response designers have been getting from picky style experts, another brand is heeding the beckon of the trend. Luxury brand Mulberry, known more for introducing the Alexa bag into every woman’s closets, has just released its first pair of sneakers.
The brand’s first venture into this territory yielded a range of high-top sneakers. Arriving in Mulberry’s signature charm and quirkiness, each design has a personality of its own. There are currently three sneakers available for purchase at the Mulberry website, while two are yet to be released. The three pairs stylish sneakers can nab include the ones in oak tiger haircalf, multicolor printed canvas, and blurry bloom.
While Mulberry deserves applause for the interesting individuality of each pair, we find the tiger and blurry bloom sneakers particularly attractive. You wouldn’t guess that Mulberry would play around with color and prints given that this is indeed their first sneaker adventure. Then again, Mulberry must be living by the mantra that one should either “go big or go home.” True enough, they won our attention by a big margin. Although they stayed true to the traditional sneaker design—lace-up and high-top—Mulberry focused on delivering a sneaker that reflected Mulberry sleek and playful aesthetic.
In contrast to the brand’s bold first release, the studded black leather and snowball white pairs offer a simpler aesthetic, but still just as chic. The pairs are due to arrive soon, though not date has been given.
