From his elaborate runway décor to the most minute invitation detail, Karl Lagerfeld understands that the Chanel runway show is—more often than not—the most awaited presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Although some would say that Lagerfeld trumps every other designer, we think Marc Jacobs is equally exceptional when it comes to runway ideas.
For his spring 2013 show, Lagerfeld unsurprisingly went for unabashed flamboyance as he brought in wind turbines and a solar panel-like runway floor to set the tone for his chic-and-quirky collection. With such great effort and attention to create a memorable runway presentation each season, there’s no wonder why industry heavyweights are never amiss from the front row action.
Just as we were ready for high-octane glamour at the Chanel show, so were the 3,000-strong attendees who stepped out in their most stylish fashion week wardrobes yet. Although there was a lot of style to go around, it was—hands-down—the VIP attendees and their thundering ensembles that stole the pre-show spotlight.
From actors to socialites and editors to bloggers, the front row seats were truly overwhelmed with incomparable personal style. Chanel regulars such as Lou Doillon, Laura Bailey, Leigh Lezark and Ines de la Fressange were among the ones who stepped out in inspiring outfits, while actresses Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Jennifer Lopez also put their best fashion feet forward for the much-awaited presentation.
