It is the brand’s tradition to immediately put up select items from their just-aired collection on pre-order sale. This time around, Proenza Schouler has chosen two luxurious bags as the two stars of the show, which is expected to be deployed by October 15.
The bags available for pre-order are the Akira and Large Chieko bags, retailing for $4,595 and $1,215, respectively. Made of real deerskin, the bags make a head-turning statement that can send the brand on the good and bad side of PS aficionados.
During its release, we witnessed fur lovers mouthing raves and expressing admirations for fur as edgy as deerskin. Meanwhile, the web has also been bombarded with snarky comments of protest and disgust for the brand’s real animalistic venture.
Despite the bags’ mixed reviews, you cannot deny the level of craftsmanship that was exerted in making these bags. The brand continued their classic and easy shapes, while departing from the tried-and-tested soft and fluffy fur that we’ve seen way too many times.
Others may contest that using animal fur is offensive, but then again, fashion has always been subjective. Love it? Nab it. Hate it? Ignore it.
