Diane Kruger at The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and InStyle Miss Golden Globe 2013 Party

Rarely do we see Diane Kruger commit a fashion faux pas but when she does, it’s mostly just a question of personal preference. The German actress has always been a red carpet risk-taker and there’s no doubt that she could totally pull off any outfit just through her poise and confidence.

It was a different story however, when she attended The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and InStyle Miss Golden Globe 2013 Party in Los Angeles. Kruger was clad in a two-piece Rochas number from its Spring 2013 collection. Ensembles in black have always been the picture of elegance, but what if it comes in an, err, unattractive piece like this one?

The voluminous skirt looked absolutely stunning on Kruger for it let her have a bit of a princess moment. The Chanel booties she wore were also gorgeous – from the bows to the black-and-white color combination.

Everything was flawless until we saw the cropped top she was wearing. The 36-year-old Kruger may have wanted to display her toned abs, but we think there’s a better way and place to show them off—like the beach, for instance.

Rochas’ midriff top looked more like a pajama top, which Kruger forgot to take off when she woke up. That observation became even more believable when we looked at her simple and messy hairstyle. The white buttons and belt were absolutely fine, as well as the matching clutch she carried, but it was the top that kept us wondering what went through her mind when she was putting this ensemble on.

All that mild sarcasm aside, we think a black tank top tucked in the skirt would have done her more favor. Now, we hope Kruger learned a valuable sartorial lesson with this ensemble. This probably won’t change how we see Kruger however, since she is so much better than this outfit at any given day.
