Rihanna has once again lived up to the unpredictability of her style and she’s proud of it. Known to be a red carpet risk-taker, the Barbadian beauty raised eyebrows when she turned up at the Westfield Stratford City Shopping Center in London wearing men’s clothes.
The electric blue double-breasted coat from Raf Simons Fall 2012 collection was good enough for us, though we do wish it was closer to her size. However, she sported it over a blue-and-grey striped top and pants from Acne, which literally looked like a pair of pajamas. A closer look at her outfit yielded images from the kids’ show Bananas in Pyjamas. Though she tried to salvage the entire ensemble with a white collared shirt, it still appeared to be something guys would definitely wear as they hit the sack.
At first glance, we thought Rihanna did good as she picked more modest garments. That idea changed however, after a long scrutiny. There’s no doubt that the coat was really sleek and elegant, but we wish she rocked it with an LBD or LWD instead of those hideous pajamas. The borrowed-from-the-boys look that she was going for would have become more inspiring, amazing and downright gorgeous.
Clearly, taking an inspiration from the boys’ wardrobe is utterly cool but Rihanna’s take on this trend fell short—on top of it being untimely. Still, we have to give her another chance to prove that she doesn’t deserve to be listed under the worst-dressed category ever again. Would you attempt to recreate this menswear-heavy look?
