Whether they hail from the small or the silver screens, some of the most talented women in Hollywood dressed up for a night of women empowerment at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, where the 19th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Celebration was held. At the event, the star-studded guest list not only lit up the red—or rather white—carpet as they made their way to the venue, but also left onlookers in a fit of envy thanks entirely to their superbly stylish ensembles. With beautiful women converging for one night, it was expected that stars would sharpen their style claws for a night.
On the red carpet, monochromatic looks resonated so heavily with the likes of Rachel Zoe, Whitney Port and Naya Rivera leading that stylish pack of white, cream or nude-wearing women. Julianne Hough also stunned in a Calvin Klein Collection frock that was far from her sequin fascination. Several celebrities also went with black, including awardee Uma Thurman and Bella Heathcote of Dark Shadows fame. Although there’s a bit of predictability there, you can never argue that women will eternally be stylish in that color.
Young Hollywood stars followed that fashion path, pitting the night’s two most favored colors. Kiernan Shipka toed the two red carpet trends with her age-appropriate black, white and striped Moschino dress. The Perks of Being a Wallflower beauty Emma Watson also offered the best of both worlds, slipping into a nude-and-black mini from Calvin Klein. Looking sexy and demure at the same time was Elle Fanning, who wore a sheer black dress from Calvin Klein. Slightly adhering to the minimalist red carpet trend was Sarah Jessica Parker, who went for a shiny grey satin dress.
Although all things black and white dominated the red carpet, a handful of celebrities let out their adventurous sides with high-octane colors that easily trumped the throngs of minimal-wearing women. Dressed in Marios Schwab, Mary Elizabeth Winstead afforded the event with a bit of edge thanks to the buckle-like details on her teal halter dress. Red carpet veterans Leslie Mann and Kristin Wiig showed their inimitable style, keeping their looks colorful yet elegant. Mann went with a long-sleeved red dress, while Wiig looked absolutely gorgeous in a green tea-length frock.
Emma Stone also got the color memo, delivering a visual delight of a pink dress. The Valentino design was elegantly sheer and boldly pink, a style that is really up Stone’s style alley. Other fashionable women to rock colors at the event were Krysten Ritter and Teresa Palmer.
Even bolder than colors were printed frocks that dressed up several celebrities. Cate Blanchett, who wore a textured print dress from Proenza Schouler, steered that minority to sartorial success. Busy Philips slipped into a colorful Dolce & Gabbana dress, while Peggy Lipton got edgy with a printed jumpsuit.
