Celebrity teens often unknowingly walk around with a “role model” sign blinking in all its neon glory above their heads. While that unspoken Hollywood truth is up for debate, there’s no question that young Hollywood are the next torchbearers of style and elegance. As such, it was only right they showed off their blossoming sartorial flair and showcased their individual styles at last night’s Teen Choice Awards.
Although the annual event is one that’s made to showcase teens’ favorites, young stars stepped out in refined and mature ensembles. At an event where color speaks volumes, a bevy of stars arrived in season-appropriate brights that rivaled the high-octane hue of the pink carpet. Hayden Panetierre beamed in her glittery purple frock, while Selena Gomez went for a fuss-free pink mini from Dsquared². The girls of Pretty Liars, Shay Mitchell and Lucy Hale, also stunned in electric yellow and sorbet pink, respectively.
The colorful Teen Choice Awards did not escape the frothy and dreamy tendencies of teens with dresses in white, cream and nude resonating heavily on the pink carpet. Taylor Swift piloted the said army in a beautiful Maria Lucia Hohan frock. Bella Thorne, Kathryn McCormik and Troian Bellisario were among the ladies to walk in their ethereal best, understanding the fail-safe appeal of ladylike dresses. Meanwhile, Crystal Reed delivered edginess to the color white thanks to the armor-like shoulder pads on her dress.
Other notable trends that dominated the pink carpet were glorious tribal and floral prints seen on the ensembles of Kat Graham, Holland Roden and Hannah Simone. Zoe Saldana also stropped traffic in her trendy two-piece Jonathan Saunders look. Glee’s Lea Michele and her affinity for sexed up looks still made waves last night courtesy of her alluring silver mini from Versace. Miranda Cosgrove also opted for a simple silver stunner that had a dreamy fluid appeal. Kylie and Kendall Jenner also walked the pink carpet, wearing a cutout maroon mini and a black asymmetrical dress, respectively.
Dresses may be the foolproof frock of choice when it comes to important red carpet events, but some stars also took their summer pants and shorts for a spin. Cat Deeley lit up the pink carpet in a pair of metallic pants, while Chelsea Kane slipped into a pair of alice+olivia printed shorts. Carly Rae Jepsen, on the other hand, looked perfectly ready to jet off to a tropical island in her standout Lisa Ho blazer-and-suit ensemble. Portia de Rossi injected a dash of adult casualness in an all-black look that was propped up by her strappy black heels.
