London’s Savoy Hotel served as the venue of the 2012 British Fashion Awards, where a bevy of ladies stepped out in magnificent designer dresses. It was a truly marvelous show of style, with a medley of gowns – long and short – decorating every corner of the venue. Though no red carpet was rolled out, the ladies still paraded their gowns to perfection—proof of their titles as today’s trendsetters and style icons.
As expected, black dominated the occasion. Alice Dellal topped her LBD with a fur coat and black Mary Janes. Burlesque queen Dita von Teese went for a sultry Jenny Packham dress that revealed a portion of her cleavage. Jade Parfitt brought black and white together with her gorgeous avant-garde gown. Finally, star of the night Stella McCartney stayed true to her design and opted for an architectural strapless jumpsuit with crystal embellishments on the side.
Contrasting the sea of black dresses were the women clad in cream, beige and nude. Tallulah Harlech flaunted her legs in a cream long-sleeved dress, while Delilah showed off her figure in a revealing gown with feathery tulle. Rachel Stevens was all about simplicity in a light beige number, which emphasized her shoulders.
Besides the battle between black and white, there were also two attendees who stunned in metallic numbers. Amber Valletta was clad in a conservative yet body-fitting gown, while model and socialite Cara Delevingne went for a green Burberry Prorsum mini dress that drew all eyes on her long legs.
Playful prints and patterns weren’t left behind, of course. Zoe Hardman looked amazing in a maroon piece sprinkled with black streaks that gave her frock a ripped yet textured look. Angela Scanlon brought some youthful vibe to the occasion with her playful pantsuit, while Portia Freeman concluded the trend with a shimmery black-and-brown patterned gown.
