Seeing Double: Nude Pumps

Women, whether you’d like to admit it or not, are born with an endless fascination for shoes. While we would occasionally test the waters and venture into the comfort of sneakers and flats, a devastatingly beautiful pair of heels or pumps will always be the one investment women make. In this edition of Seeing Double, we pit one of the classics that is perhaps resting neatly inside a transparent box in your shoe closet as we speak—the nude pumps. This pair’s versatility and its impeccable ability to make women’s legs look longer than normal, are essentially the qualities that make them one of the most crucial shoes to own.

Similar to the ubiquity of the little black dress, nude pumps are just as common. As such, it’s almost inevitable to encounter two startlingly similar pairs. Case in point: Miu Miu and Jimmy Choo’s nude platform pumps. Although the two pairs come in the same sandy hue, the similarity ends there for one pair arrives in shiny patent leather while the other has a matte leather finish.

The two pairs share the same elevation as well with 5-inch heels and 1-inch platforms. Looking closely however, the Jimmy Choo pair boasts of a curvier heel. Miu Miu, on the other hand, has a straighter heel. It can also be noticed that the Jimmy Choo pair evokes a sense of traditionalism, in contrast to the more contemporary angles and curves of Miu Miu’s design. The toe boxes are also slightly different, with one pointier than the other.

Plucking out which to nab between the two is a tough decision to make since each pair exudes the same stylish class, sophistication and chameleon-like quality typical in nude pumps. Even in pricing, the two are toe-to-toe, with the Miu Miu pair retailing for $645 and the Jimmy Choo design going for $695. With that slim difference, it’s safe to say that either of the two would make a worthy investment pair. Now, we beg to ask, which one’s your favorite?
