Shoe Spotting: Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem’s graphic-heavy shoes

Nicholas Kirkwood’s scene-stealing, drool-inducing collection of graphic-heavy shoes for Erdem was one of the true standouts during the past fall 2012 season. With the mind-blowing patterns that scream Erdem and the architectural slant that thrives within the Kirkwood label beautifully colliding in each design, there’s no question or wonder why women are coveting these shoes. As such, we are pleased to announce the arrival of the Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem collection on Net-a-Porter.

Plucking out a sole favorite among these three is scandalously unfair since all of them burst with creative individuality and brilliant craftsmanship. The boots for instance, feature paint splatter-like patterns from afar but a closer look revealed a menagerie of flower outlines. A pair of pumps arrived in a yellow tweed-like finish that will surely drain out the excess of oxblood come fall season. Meanwhile, an oceanic pattern on the upper of a pump offered a more tamed down color palette that will be easier to mix and match.

Besides the standout patterns that give character to these shoes, another feature that makes them particularly wonderful are the modern heels. The clear acetate blocks attached to the sole give a futuristic vibe since it appears to be almost invisible save for the black blocks completing the heels. Their high-octane personality may be too much for some women to carry, but they still are mighty elegant and sophisticated.

For the incoming fall season, we’re counting on these three pairs to up our style ante when the winter chills roll in. However, we are decidedly looking forward to slipping into the unconventionally printed boots that beam with electrifying appeal. Which pair will you be nabbing?
