Like the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which was held last January 13, there’s one more event we can’t wait to catch a glimpse of — The 85th Academy Awards. Set to take place at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 24, the Oscars is the most anticipated awards show because of the prestigious recognitions and of course, the stars’ red carpet looks. We at Fashion Glamour are beyond excited to see what the celebrities will wear so we gathered a number of dresses from the spring 2013 collections that we seriously wish to see that evening.
It would be blasphemy not to want dresses from Oscar de la Renta and Valentino at the Oscars. Our top pick from Oscar de la Renta is a powder blue tiered dress, which we think will look great on Amy Adams, Amanda Seyfried, or even Emma Stone. Meanwhile, red-haired Julianne Moore or Jessica Chastain would look perfect in this midnight-blue Valentino gown. Yes, it would probably be nice to see something that isn’t red from the label, don’t you think?
This divine Reem Acra creation in red is perfect for Anne Hathaway because it’s dramatic, très chic and utterly romantic. We know Jennifer Lawrence can pull off ball gowns with ease; such is why we’re keeping our fingers crossed that she chooses this light yellow dress from Erdem. Although it’s not as dramatic, we think Lawrence has the capability to up the sartorial impact.
We also spotted this electric blue gown from Monique Lhuillier that simply demands to be worn by the gorgeous Helen Hunt. Claire Danes’ a lover of simple yet stunning dresses so our eyes are set on this delicate Carolina Herrera frock in nude.
Hollywood veteran Helen Mirren deserves a gown that is as stellar as her career. This gold Vera Wang ensemble might do her justice. Another Valentino piece we’re eyeing may be a bit too casual for the Oscars, but given Marion Cotillard’s sartorial bravery, we think she can pull it off with flair.
For Adele, whose Skyfall song is nominated for Best Original Song, this edgy Dior dress is what we’re hoping for. With its dark and dramatic high-low skirt, she could be the Oscars’ beautiful black swan. Remembering Lucy Liu’s floral dress, we wish to see her in this Zac Posen ball gown that has floral prints too, only it’s far more subdued.
Rachel Weisz’s effortless elegance is very similar to this sparkly Jenny Packham dress, while Emilio Pucci’s regal gown with gold embellishments is just begging for Jacki Weaver’s approval.
Whether the stars listen to us or not, we’re certain that the 2013 Oscars will be as breathtaking as its past shows. For now, all we can do is wait and hope that celebrities step out in their most stylish best.
