Spring Stock-Up: The Perfect White Shirt
Posted by on May 10, 2012 | 1:23 pm EST

We may be halfway through the spring season, but Fashion Glamour is still on the prowl for key wardrobe investments to make while the warm weather is upon us. Although social norms dictate that spring should cue in a rainbow palette of garments, we’re shifting the spotlight on the always-classy, never-failing appeal of a simple white top. While there is a spectrum of options resting in every designer rack, we’ve zeroed in on the British luxury brand Burberry, and its impenetrable urban coolness.

Far from the daring, free-spirited aesthetic that dominated most pieces this season, we’re hooked by the classic silhouette and unpretentious ease these three designs offer. The diversity in design is also something commendable, as one can easily go down the path towards repetitiveness and monotony when it comes to exploring the stylish possibilities of a white fabric. Although Burberry has a lot of crisp white tops to offer, we plucked only three pieces.

Burberry's pleat front blouse

The first top channeled the daintiness of this color by adding soft pleats on the front and back. The back has an elasticized band that hugs the waist for a shapelier silhouette. Delicate and effeminate, we see this top looking amazingly chic when worn over dark denim jeans.

Burberry's raffia shoulder cotton shirt

Meanwhile, intricate raffia detailing was incorporated on the shoulder of a loose and slouchy number that hints at it being spring’s most coveted boyfriend shirt. Burberry styled it to perfection, with the rolled up sleeves and tucking it in a moss green pants.

Burberry's zip front tunic top

A tunic with a zippered front was the last to catch our attention. Screaming with downtown British coolness, one can tuck this in or let it hang loose for comfort and style. It also offered the season’s most desired appeal—utter relaxation without even trying.
