It has only been days since Raf Simons’ departure from the Jil Sander Group shook the fashion industry, and yet another brand is bidding goodbye to its famed creative director. It has just been confirmed that Stefano Pilati is leaving famed fashion house YSL after assuming the creative director post for the past seven years. In a statement, the brand salutes the designer “for his extraordinary work and his determination in forwarding the awe-inspiring heritage of Monsieur Saint Laurent”.
The brand’s Fall 2012 show–which will take place on March 5 in Paris–will be Pilati’s final fashion show as YSL Creative Director. Following the Fall show will be the announcement of Pilati’s successor. Rumors are swirling around that Christian Dior’s Hedi Slimane is up for the position. If confirmed, this will be Slimane’s big comeback to the YSL brand after handling the menswear line from 1997 to 2000.
