It was raining champagne at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic as New York’s most stylish and sporty spread summer cheer at the Liberty State Park. The prestigious annual social event, which was hosted by Clive Owen, Nachio Figueras, Delfina Blacquier and Veuve Clicquot president Vanessa Kay, welcomed over 6,000 guests to fete the sport. The impressive guest list included Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Leslie Bibb, Minka Kelly, Jason Wu, Rachel Zoe, Rodger Berman, Zoe Saldana, Dree Hemingway, Hilary Rhoda and Padma Lakshmi who all arrived in their summer best.

The event saw the first polo match to be held at the 1,212-acre Liberty State Park, after Veuve Clicquot was forced to find a new location because of the construction work taking place in Governors’ Island. The sprawling area, which affords a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline, was bedecked with chic parasols and an endless supply of bubbly.

Zoe, who arrived with his husband and son, was given the honor of throwing out the ceremonial ball to kick off the game. With a massive crowd of beautiful people watching on, host—and an exceptional player himself—Figueras’ Black Watch team dominated the Nespresso squad during the main event. He also finely capped his day by earning the Most Valuable Player award.

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is not all fun and games though, as the event also benefited Work To Ride, a non-profit equestrian program that provides “disadvantaged urban youth with activities centered around horsemanship, equine sports and education.”
