Although high-fashion designer catwalks are where everyone’s attention is at come fashion week season, the streets are teeming with individual style successes as well. During the past Fall/Winter presentations, the surrounding city streets became a hodgepodge of originality and eccentricities as the cities’ most fashionable people showed up in their stylish best, never minding the not-so pleasant weather.
What Fashion Glamour loves the most about the glorious attendees is their brazen sense of independence in dressing. No season or trend dominated over another as fashion lovers arrived in pieces plucked out from a variety of seasons, while mixing everything up for a look that resonated as their own.
While it was anything but warm and sunny at the time, we’re highlighting eight pieces that could have easily been on our trend radar had they not appeared months ahead. Here are the the best season-less street looks that we spotted during the past Fall/Winter presentations in New York, Milan, London and Paris to serve as your summer sartorial inspiration.
Double denim. This look, spotted in the streets of Paris, dares you to find the balance between looking tumultuously tacky and superbly stylish. Although history has reminded us that piling on two denim pieces is a dangerous path to tread, this look can be salvaged by playing with different textures, weights and colors. Case in point: the top has a lighter look to it than the shorts. This summer, maximize the season’s go-to closet piece—denim shorts—and get more adventurous.
Floral pants. This trend has already gently made waves last spring, but this summer, floral printed jeans are getting louder and bolder. This look we spotted in New York, for instance, took away the daintiness of florals and edged it up by tucking it in a pair of urban-ready booties. This season, feel free to forget about the pressure of feminine sandals and instead channel the tough summer chick you’ve always wanted to unleash.
The sharp high-low skirt. There is perhaps no more resounding trend that hit the past few months than the high-low skirt. We blame the ubiquity of this girly wardrobe piece to its undeniable versatility, which can take any dresser from easy morning walks to chic evening soirees. With streets severely saturated with high-low skirts, it’s time to experiment with edgier and sharper skirts. Step away from the soft and flirty hemline and embrace the fashion-forward aesthetic of a bluntly cut mullet skirt such as this fabulous black skirt we saw in Milan.
Color accents. Working with colors this summer is all about balance. This Londoner effortlessly shows off how to work with two punchy shades without going overboard by simply layering a natural coat over a royal blue ensemble. A final punch of summer perfection is delivered by the citron belt, which accentuated her waist besides tying the look together.
Tribal skirts. Skirts are a permanent fixture when it comes to styling for the summer season, but this time around, say adieu to spring’s favored florals and chiffons. Embody the globe-trotting maven in you by opting for skirts with refreshingly diverse prints such as this enviable tribal-inspired skirt we spied in Milan. These pieces are the stylish alternative to floral skirts, offering a tougher and bolder statement that easily trumps the former’s vulnerability.
Colored jeans. While a printed pant is an acquired fashion trend that does not appeal to everyone, a pair of colored jeans is an easier piece to slip on this summer for its easy-to-wear aesthetic and unabashed stylishness. Although brightly colored jeans have been invading our style radars the past few months, we’re shifting the spotlight to vibrant pairs in looser and more laid-back silhouettes. The pair this New Yorker is wearing affords a more casual and dressed down vibe, fit for everyday summer lounging.
Sun-ready accessories. For summer strolls, we’re obliging you to take inspiration from this stylish woman’s chic sun hat and sunglasses. These summer musts are beyond versatile, able to work with every ensemble you put together. The floppy sun hat in a glamorous shade of red looked perfect against her crisp white-and-red look. When it comes to eyewear, do pick one that also complements your face shape besides being trendy.
Bring-it-everywhere It bag. Let this stylish Londoner and her chic cobalt blue Celine bag remind you to put your small and compact bags in temporary retirement this summer. Tote around summer’s hottest It bags, one of them being this Celine piece, for a truly standout summer style. Besides its spacious compartment, we adore the bag’s electric hue that instantly jazzes up a minimalist summer outfit.
