Wooden soles and heels have the right touch of “country” in them to throw some warmth over autumn and winter outfits. Specialist brand Swedish Hasbeens are in the business of wooden clogs, bags, and belts to celebrate the fine stitches of the handmade and small factory fashion.

But it’s big impact the brand is talking. Its A/W 2014 catalog, themed Victorian Gypsy, allows some light into an era of modular shifts in fashion. The collection interprets the Victorian era as a time of “romanticism, mysticism, and art” while invoking the emergent Gypsy visual movement as a “daring and diverse mix of colors, materials, layers, and patterns.”

Victorian booties, lace-up shoes, and wedge boots are additional skin to boudoir fabrics such as lace and antebellum. Tight-waisted and fluffed dresses are given edge by the Gypsy Boot, cut from vegetable tanned leather. The Gypsie Dancing shoe could be easily flashed at the swish of a bohemian skirt trailing a carpeted ballroom. Never has a brand shown so much flexibility while sticking to tradition.

The shoes come in earthy colors such as bordeaux, green nubuck, cognac nubuck, and black. The catalog wanders into the modern era by mixing and matching models with wardrobe staples such as cropped pants, tights, and dresses.
