Victoria Beckham’s Fall collection is as genuine as it gets. Without a hair out of place, the models walked down the runway in true Beckham fashion—sharp, polished and stylish. While some designers derive fashion inspiration from the extremes of everyday life and exotic travels, Beckham has always created clothes that do not venture away from her persona. With that, her fall lineup was an authentic display of her identity—and her booming design skills.
Although there is an absence of womanly embellishments—sequins, slits and lace—the line manages to celebrate a woman’s curves. A knee-length V-neck dress with smartly placed stripes started the show, setting the fierce tone of the entire show. A flurry of models in Christian Louboutin boots with socks poking out shuffled in, seemingly escorting the audience right into the designer’s closet.
The hardened femininity in the collection is complemented by a subdued color palette of bottle green, maroon and black. The occasional appearances of red and electric blue softened the strict and structured lineup. Flare dresses were belted, further accentuating the waist.
Flattened collars and militaristic coats stood out against the body-conscious silhouettes. Gold hardware on the shoulder and chest furthered the tough but chic concept. A hint of sexiness is discreetly placed at the back of the dresses, which featured a short slit at the bottom.
The designer’s cohesively sleek Fall collection is an indication that she’s on a steady trail toward high-fashion recognition. A designer who plays to her strength, Mrs. Beckham is a fashion player to be reckoned with.
