Yay or Nay: Givenchy leather knee high boots

Givenchy leather knee high boots

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian never fails to make waves whenever she steps out in NYC wearing this pair of Givenchy leather knee boots. Instead of getting positive reactions however, she almost always ends up getting bashed for these equestrian-like shoes.

How do we feel about this pair? While it’s easy to fall in love with leather boots, we can’t look past the atrocious design that this knee-high pair boasts. To start, the pair’s textured-leather overlay makes the legs of the wearer look bigger than they really are. As it extends at the middle of the feet, the boots end up cutting off what is supposed to be a more streamlined look. The result? Unflattering stumpy legs. With everyone wanting slim legs, we can’t decipher why anyone would want to look like they have tree trunk limbs.

Originally seen on Riccardo Tisci’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, these knee-high boots are definitely hard to pull off. Fortunately, Tisci proved that there’s still a slight wearability to it when he decided to match them with shorter skirts to even out the bulkiness of the boots.

While this pair is definitely fashion-forward and edgy, this Givenchy creation doesn’t have that immediate impact and appeal most women—us included—want. Fashion Glamour adores Givenchy, but these boots are just making us want to run on the runway screaming nay.

Kardashian may love these since she has a pair in black and beige, but we just want to forget the fact that the French label actually made these. For those who share the same fascination for this pair as Kardashian, it’s available at Net-A-Porter for $1,695.
