Yay or Nay: Prada Flame Slingback Pump

Prada’s range of flame shoes has been on fire since it first traipsed down the runway—and stole women’s breath away—during the label’s last spring runway show. The center of many women’s late night conversations, these continue to vie for attention even though it has been months since the said shoes had appeared. We don’t know what exactly makes these shoes click, but we’re zeroing in one pair to feel the fiery flame these shoes bring.

Although the Flame Slingback Pump is perhaps the simplest pair in terms of color and embellishments, it still boasts of the same ultra-modern aesthetic that is almost perfectly unfit for spring. Then again, there’s a cheekiness to this shoes that matches the free-spirited vibe of the season courtesy of bold and imposing flames at the back. If you look at it from afar, the shoe actually looks like an engineered marvel that runs on gasoline. Upfront however, it’s superbly feminine and graceful. Amid all the quirky extras that sells this pair, Prada also took note of creating comfortable shoes by incorporating a slingback strap to secure the foot onto the shoe as you take off in rocket ship speed with every stride.

This opposing fender-bender of dated and space age inspirations yielded ad extremely appealing pair that makes it one of our favorites this season. As always however, there is a minor catch. While we adore Prada’s ingenious footwear designs for spring, not everyone can wear this pair—realistically speaking. Women with a penchant for adventure, who can easily brush off a fashion disaster and those who have the legs for 4 ¼-inch heels may be the ones to end up stomping around the world in high-speed style with these shoes on. Prada’s Flame Slingback Pumps are available at Bergdorf Goodman for $890.
