Anais Pouliot and Romee Strijd were like Minnie Mouse on steroids as they modeled for the lively lookbook of the Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton collaboration, recently released for everyone’s pleasured viewing. Similar to the preview we received upon the announcement of this partnership, the collection made full of use of primary colors—with red, black and yellow harnessed to its absolute fullest. Despite the preconceived tackiness that is too often attached with this print, we can’t deny the collaboration’s irresistible appeal.
Shot against a dotted background of red and white, and black and yellow, the temporary raven-haired models—painted with dots as well—showed off bags, dresses, shoes, accessories, watches, scarves and even sunglasses from the collection. While it’s easy to assume that there will be repetitiveness to the collection, the first lineup offered a surprising variety in the print’s usage—most evident in the footwear and eyewear category. There was a tasteful restraint and stylized flamboyance to each piece, which could well be the reason behind the collection’s impeccable allure.
This July 10, Kusama and Louis Vuitton fans will finally get a hold of these prized pieces as they descend in stores. The second wave of polka dot madness will be unveiled in October.
